Conservation

Bird on wireAs you can see conservation for both coastal habitat and coastal wildlife are huge issues and concerns here in Florida. You may live here or you may be one of the millions that visit us and enjoy all the beauty that Florida has to offer. We as conservationists are working hard to keep Florida beautiful and the coastal environment healthy. There are a great many organizations available for you to become involved with.

I remember my first time to see a Florida Sea Turtle in the wild and I will never forget the effect it had on me. I was several miles out to sea, standing on the back of the boat when I spotted a giant sea turtle swimming on top of the water by some floating grass. What a sight at just a few yards away. Another joined me on the flats by swimming around my skiff enjoying the bait fish I was throwing and I didn't mind that at all. What a sight!

International Game Fish AssociationThe International Game Fish Association has been a proponent of fisheries conservation and management since 1939. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission offers a great deal of information for you to enjoy and you may find yourself wanting to help out by joining. The Coastal Conservation Association is also very active in the efforts for Florida as well as all coastal states. By the way if you join the CCA you automatically have joined the FFWC and you will get cool stickers like you see here. The Mississippi Flyway is just to the north and that brings us to Ducks Unlimited. What a wonderful history they have in supporting and leading the way for habitat conservation throughout the United States.

Florida Fish and Waterlife ConservationAll of these organizations tie in together on the common ground of saving and preserving wildlife itself and the places where they live. As your guide I support all of these organizations and am involved in them all. I would urge you to do the same to help our friends in nature.

Thanks.
Capt. Pat.
